Focused Group Discussion on Sanitation in a Gram Panchayat of Chhipabarod Block
Awareness Campaign for 'Nirmal Gram Puruskar' Upliftment
  • Location: Block-Bair, District-Bharatpur

    Attendees comprised Panchayat Officials, Anganbari Workers, and School Teachers. The workshop covered significant topics, including the background and current status of the sanitation program, the Nirmal Gram Abhiyan concept, and the roles and responsibilities of PRIs. Discussions also delved into the forward-looking role of standing committees.

    The workshop commenced with an inauguration by the Pradhan, and the sessions were presided over by the District Collector and Chairman of DWSC, Baran. The event concluded with a impactful valedictory address delivered by the District Collector of Bharatpur.

    In a strategic move, a roadmap was crafted at the conclusion of the workshop to guide the realization of campaign objectives, emphasizing active participation from the community.

Location: Block-Bair, District-Bharatpur

Comprehensive Sanitation Initiative by Zila Parishad, Pali
  • The IEC Materials Development Workshop spanned three days program, involving Block Coordinators, Literacy Program Motivators, Primary School Teachers, and Anganwadi workers. Workshop produced impactful materials like slogans, handbills, brochures, and posters for sanitation information, education & communication (IEC). These played a vital role in publicizing and raising awareness during the sanitation campaign.
  • The Participatory Learning & Action (PLA) Workshop focused on training of Master Masons, Motivators, and Anganwadi Workers at the block level. These initiatives aimed to boost knowledge & skills in contributing to the success of broader sanitation efforts.
 
 
DRG Training Program in District Karauli
  • The workshop commenced with the inauguration by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Zila Parishad, Karauli. The valedictory session featured insights from the District Collector and Chairman of DWSC, Karauli.
  • During the inaugural session of DRG training in Karauli, the CEO of Zila Parishad chaired the proceedings.
  • Certificates were distributed to participants during the valedictory session by the District Collector and Chairman of DWSC, Karauli, adding a notable conclusion to the event.
Total Sanitation Campaign, Zila Parishad, Jalore
  • Formation of Village Water Sanitation and Health Committee.
  • Training sessions for motivators, masons, and environmental awareness building for toilet construction.
  • A six-day Training Program designed for Block Coordinators and Motivators in Jalore.
  • Conducting a one-day Orientation Program on Sanitation for Sarpanch and Ward Panch at Aahore block in Jalore district.
  • A knowledgeable resource person addressing participants during the six-day Training Program.
Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) as part of the European Union State Partnership in Rajasthan

Establishment of village water sanitation and health committees, along with three-day training programs on Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) Plans and seven-day training on Participatory Learning & Action (PLA)/Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) in Jalore and Aahore.

Results of our interventions:
The impact of these initiatives is evident in the construction of toilets during the intervention period in different districts:

Bharatpur: 5000 toilets
Jhalawar: 1500 toilets
Pali: 1000 toilets
Karauli: 1000 toilets
Jalore: 2500 toilets

Sanitation Awareness Initiatives Across Different Districts:

Motivators Excavating Pits for Toilet Construction

The campaign, orchestrated and backed by Prabhu Foundation, took place in the Sultanpur block of Kota District in December 2016. A targeted awareness initiative engaged village beneficiaries, inspiring the community to excavate pits for toilet construction. The ripple effect extended to other villages, igniting a wave of enthusiasm as they, too, were motivated to embark on building toilets in their households, spurred by the impactful activities initiated during this campaign.

Engaging Dialogue on Awareness Campaign with Villagers

A Chaupal was orchestrated as part of the sanitation campaign in Block-Shahbad, Gram Panchayat-Deori, Baran district. Over a hundred individuals actively participated, engaging in discussions on the status of open defecation, the necessity for behavioral change among villagers, and their vital role in sanitation activities. Prabhu Foundation volunteers effectively mobilized the participation of youth, women, and children. Employing a door-to-door approach, the team covered all fifteen wards of the Panchayat, disseminating essential features of sanitation.

Sanitation Dialogue in a Nukkad Meeting

Conducted Nukkad meeting in Kundanpur Gram Panchayat to disseminate crucial information on sanitation. Contributed to awareness initiatives in Village Panchayats within the Sangod block of Kota district. Enthusiastically, men, women, and children actively participated in these lively Nukkad meeting. Discussions commenced by addressing open defecation, sharing the drawbacks of the practice, and highlighting the benefits of using toilets. Children engaged in a quiz on sanitation, enhancing their understanding and involvement in the campaign.

Spreading awareness about sanitation during a school prayer assembly in a village

The sanitation campaign in Village Panchayat-Alod, Block-Khairabad, District-Kota included the following activities:

  • Prabhu Foundation’s team imparted information to students on sanitation and personal hygiene.
  • Daily, during the prayer assemblies, details about sanitation habits and behavior were shared in all government and private schools of the Panchayat for five minutes.
  • Children formed groups and conducted door-to-door discussions on sanitation and personal hygiene.
  • Anganwadi workers engaged with parents, discussing the sanitation and hygiene of their children.

 

 
 
 
Initiation of Sanitation Campaign in Jaisalmer District

Initiation of the Sanitation Drive in Gram Panchayat-Rajmathai, Block-Sankra, District-Jaisalmer. The Sarpanch, Ward Panchs, and villagers initiated the campaign by cleaning the Panchayat Bhawan campus and surrounding areas. All Ward Panchs committed to ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of their respective wards, involving local residents. Additionally, teachers and Anganwadi workers organized drawing competitions and children rallies to raise awareness among the younger generation about sanitation and personal hygiene.

Engaging in a Focus Group Discussion with village women to address Water Management and Sanitation issues

In Ayana village Panchayat of Itawah block, Kota district, various awareness activities such as Nukkad Meetings, Chaupal, door-to-door campaigns, and children rallies were organized. MNREGS laborers were briefed about sanitation and personal hygiene during the awareness campaign in the afternoon.

During discussions on sanitation and personal hygiene, village women expressed their commitment to behavioral change. The Foundation team consistently motivated and monitored the behavior of these women. Inspired by the enthusiasm of the women workers, male MNREGS workers were encouraged and agreed to adopt sanitation habits.
